Samuel Wood, MD, PhD, MBA, is a board-certified Fertility Specialist specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Great Beginnings Surrogacy Services in San Diego, California.

One of the leading fertility specialists in the world, Dr. Wood, has over 30 years of clinical experience. An expert in reproductive genetics, he has helped patients from all continents (except Antarctica) have the babies they desired.

Dr. Wood is the only fertility specialist in the United States who has the honor of being a longtime listee in three Marquis publications. He was named one of the “50 People to Watch” by San Diego Magazine and one of the 20 "Men who Impact San Diego" by San Diego Metropolitan Magazine.

His clinical skills have won him accolades, including being named a "Top Doctor" by U.S. News and World Report, a "Super Doctor" by SuperDoctors.com, and earned ratings of "Superb" (9.8) by the Avvo physician rating service.

Over the past few years, Dr. Wood has appeared on over 100 local and national radio, television, and print shows. Featured on local and national morning television segments, he provides insight into the latest research in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, behavioral endocrinology, reproductive genetics, and medical ethics.

His distinguished academic background includes a MA in Psychology, Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, and an MBA. He is a longtime member of Mensa, the society for individuals with a documented high IQ.

After a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina, he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at UCSD. He is double board-certified in OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. 

Dr. Wood earned the honor of being a certified High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) by the American Board of Bioanalysts (ABB) in two separate areas. He has published numerous scientific papers in multiple areas of study. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Medical Society (SDCMS).

Despite his many accomplishments, his gentle, caring nature is most exceptional about Dr. Wood. He is known by his patients from around the world for providing each patient with highly personalized care.

Dr. Wood specializes in the fine details of protocols for Chinese patients, whose responses are in many cases significantly different than those of American and European patients.
